On behalf of the IJAP Project, let me take this opportunity to thank you for getting this very important project deliverable completed on time.

Improving Jamaica's Agriculture Productivity (IJAP) Project (IICA)

Artificial Reef Design

EcoReefs provides full design services for marine ecological enhancement projects of any size. We provide complete design treatments based on discovery phase data gathering and site visits, to help ensure we meet the aesthetic and functional goals of the project.

Our approach to design recognizes the interaction of habitats and organisms on both small and large scales, and we utilize ecologically-appropriate materials and species to mimic the features and flows found on wild reefs. Understanding the marine setting is critical to a successful design, and we perform detailed analysis of the site's presentation to wind, tide and waves, sediment movement, water chemistry and temperature ranges, ecological factors, location of boat traffic, planned recreational uses, and many other parameters.

Our final designs seek to balance these considerations within a value engineering framework to establish a high-performing marine ecosystem that has significant biological and economic value.

Reef Installation

EcoReefs provides full support for all aspects of reef installation, including tendering, procurement, logistics, assembly, construction and underwater operations.

We are uniquely experienced and employ a wide range of specialized tools and procedures to work efficiently and minimize installation costs.

EcoReefs has installed reefs in every major reef province, and can operate effectively in locations ranging from the most remote to the most industrialized.

Coral Transplantation

EcoReefs can provide a complete programme for transplantation of marine organisms including fish, corals & other invertebrates, and sea grass or other desired species.

Transplantation helps speed the establishment of marine organisms beyond what is achievable with normal settlement rates, and d depending on the setting, we will use starts culled from existing reefs, grown in offshore nurseries or cultivated in aquaria.

We have deep expertise in transplantation of corals and other organisms, and generally recommend some level of transplantation as part of a marine ecological enhancement.

Reef EcoSystem Monitoring

EcoReefs provides long-term monitoring services to assess how well our marine ecological enhancements are developing over time.

As trained scientists, we use accepted best practices for gathering ecological data, including line intercept transects, random quadrats, fish and coral counting, and underwater video transects and stations.

EcoReefs monitoring programmes are designed to collect, analyze and prepare data needed to fulfill regulatory reporting requirements, conservation management needs and to document long-term reef development and ecological performance.

Maintenance & Expansion

EcoReefs also provides long-term maintenance services for settings where aesthetics and or accelerated reef development are critical.

We can quickly replace damaged units, perform additional transplantations, or expand the footprint of the existing reef for greater ecological benefit.

We can also install interpretive signage or additional underwater features of interest.

Tendering & Project Management

EcoReefs has unique expertise in managing marine ecological enhancement projects from inception to completion, including tendering, permitting, project management, and supervisory oversight.

We will work with you as a trusted scientific advisor and consultant through all phases of the project.

For large scale projects, we can provide oversight services where we facilitate proper coordination across the involved stakeholders (e.g. regulatory agencies, project managers, architects, marine works, etc.) to ensure on-time delivery that is both cost-effective and tightly integrated with your overall construction plan.

Value engineering is one of our core principles, and we are committed to identifying opportunities to contain costs without compromising project goals.
